Message from the President:​

If you’ve ever wondered whether you “know enough” to be part of a beekeeping association, let us put that worry to rest right now: if you’re curious about bees, you belong here. Whether you’re still figuring out the difference between a worker and a drone, planning your first hive, managing a backyard colony, or have years of honey harvests under your belt, there is a place for you in the Austin Area Beekeepers Association.

Our association is a hive in the best sense of the word—made stronger by the mix of experience, questions, ideas, and enthusiasm that each person brings. Beginners remind us how exciting it is to learn, while experienced beekeepers share hard-earned wisdom and, occasionally, great stories about things that didn’t go quite as planned. Everyone learns something, no matter where they are on their beekeeping journey.

You don’t need to have bees yet, fancy equipment, or all the answers to be welcome here. All you need is an interest in bees, a willingness to learn, and perhaps a tolerance for the occasional bee pun. We believe beekeeping is better when it’s shared—shared knowledge, shared challenges, shared successes, and yes, sometimes shared honey.

Our meetings, events, and conversations are meant to be welcoming, supportive, and practical for beekeepers of every experience level. If you’re brand new, come ask questions. If you’re experienced, come share what you’ve learned. And if you’re somewhere in between, you’re exactly where most of us are.
