Prep time: 15 mins | Bake time: 10-12 mins
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, softened (1 stick)
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup brown sugar (helps with structure and caramelization)
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (or 2 cups for thicker, less-spread cookies)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions:
1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. Combine Ingredients: Cream the butter, honey, and brown sugar until smooth, then beat in the egg and vanilla. Mix in the combined flour, baking soda, and salt, followed by the chocolate chips.
3. Chill and Bake: For best results, chill the dough for 30-60 minutes to reduce spreading. Scoop dough onto baking sheets and bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
4. Cool: Let the cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before moving to a wire rack.
Tips for Honey Baking
Honey produces a soft, chewy, cake-like texture but causes more spread, so keeping dough cool is important.
